Ryan Jordan of Pana was presented with the 2009 Novice of the Year award by 2008 Novice Gordon Watkins of Petersburg at the annual ISAA conference Nov. 1-2 in Springfield. Novice contestants must have no more than three years experience to enter. Other contestants in the photo include Joe Wiesemann of Worden, Kara Miller of Buncombe, Cody Hanold of Brighton, and Gene Hayenga of Rockford.
