Jon Bloomberg of Orion was selected by a panel of professional Auctioneers as Illinois' top ringman at the ISAA annual conference competition. The mission of the contest is to enhance the ability to sell real and personal property by the auction method of marketing; to emphasize the importance of professionalism by Ringmen; to set personal goals of improvement. Contestants were judged in five areas including: 1) Introduction, initial command, appearance, poise; 2) Body language, hand gestures, surveying the crowd; 3) Communicating with Auctioneer and buyer; 4) Salesmanship, encourages the audience to bid; reached a minimum of $50 bid and signals Auctioneer to end bidding; and 5) Judge would hire the Ringman work for him/her. Jon will receive a championship ring and ISAA membership dues for one year. A past president of ISAA, Jon also served one year each as vice president and president-elect. Additionally, he served a three-year term on the Board of Governors representing District 3, which consists of Henry, Rock Island, Mercer, Knox, Henderson, Warren, Fulton, McDonough and Hancock Counties.
